El artículo estudia la doctrina sobre María y la Eucaristía en Cristóbal de Vega, uno de los mariólogos españoles más importantes del siglo XVII. Su principal obra, Theologia Mariana, constituye una síntesis de la mariología clásica española. Los temas principales que aborda son los que había estudiado la teología de los siglos precedentes: María da al mundo el Pan de vida, pues engendra el cuerpo y la sangre de Cristo que estarían después sacramentalmente presentes en la Eucaristía; las relaciones entre la carne y la sangre de Cristo y de María, que ha dado pie a críticas y discusiones; y el clásico tema sobre la Comunión de la Virgen.
The article studies the doctrine of Mary and the Eucharist in
Cristóbal de Vega, one of the most important Mariologists in the XVIIth century. His main work, Theologia Mariana, is a synthesis of classical Spanish Mariology. The principal matters he deals with are those of theology in the previous century: Mary gives the world the Bread of Life, as she engenders the body and blood of Christ which will later be sacramentally present in the Eucharist; the relation between the body and blood of Christ and of Mary, which have been the cause of criticism and argument; and the classic subject of The Communion of The Virgin
