This year we commemorate 400th death anniversary (11th May, 1610) of Matteo Ricci in Beijing. Since he was a man of science and a man of God who had a great respect for Chinese people, language and culture, he won the respect of the Chinese and inculturated Christianity in China. Leonard Fernando, S.J. (leofern@gmail.com) Professor of Church History and Systematic Theology in Vidyajyoti College, Delhi, narrates his life and highlights the achievements of this Italian humanist who became a Chinese scholar.
