En este libro se presenta una síntesis novedosa de los grandes hitos de la evangelización en Japón. Se relatan en él los orígenes de la labor evangelizador de los misioneros católicos en Asia, después de la llegada de San Francisco Javier a Japón, en 1549, y de sus primeros pasos allí. También se muestra la expansión del cristianismo en el archipiélago, y se describen las primeras persecuciones. Para terminar en la progresiva eliminación del cristianismo en Japón durante los siglos XVI y XVII, que llevó a su total desaparición, en uno de sus episodios precoces en Extremo Oriente.

This book presents a novel synthesis of the major milestones of evangelisation in Japan. The origins of the evangelistic work of Catholic missionaries in Asia are told, from the arrival of San Francisco Javier in Japan, in 1549, and his first steps there. It also shows the spread of Christianity in the archipelago and describes the first persecutions. Finally, it relates the progressive elimination of Christianity in Japan during the 16th and 17th centuries, which led to its total disappearance, in one of the early episodes in the far East.
